…Condemns the killing of security personnel
President Bola Tinubu says anyone who threatens the security of Nigeria, whether from an internal or external perspective, will be brought to justice.
He said this last weekend during the graduation ceremony of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 17 of the National Institute of Security Studies (NISS).
Tinubu, who was represented by Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, however, assured that the Federal Government will ensure that anyone brought to justice will be treated fairly, warning that the government will continue to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards security threats. .
He noted that security forces have sacrificed personnel, including 38 soldiers who recently lost their lives in an operational accident.
“The unity we see today in the security sector has never happened before. “If you threaten the security of Nigeria, whether from within or without, you will be brought to justice appropriately and fairly,” he said.
The warning came as the government battles internal insecurity, a major problem affecting several communities, negatively impacting food production, internal cohesion and massive public expenditure.
The institute, which is committed to strengthening manpower in the security sector, has graduated 91 participants, including representatives from five other countries.
Over the years, the institute has also played an important role in strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and other African countries in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
Tinubu also emphasized the synergy and unity among Nigeria’s security agencies and the government’s determination to ensure national stability.
He also stressed on building stronger capacity and improved synergy among security agencies under President Tinubu’s administration.
Former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, who chaired the meeting, in his remarks proposed the death penalty for anyone who kills security personnel as a panacea to the increasing attacks on military and paramilitary officers.
He disclosed that Nigeria has lost a total of 229 police officers in the last 22 months.
